I graduated from Emory University with a chemistry major and a math minor. I will be pursuing a chemical engineering master’s degree at U.C. Berkeley next fall. Currently, I am investigating the molecular genetics of silicon uptake and transport in poplar trees here at ORNL. Plant silicon uptake can influence the downstream processing of biofuels, plant defenses against insects, and the production of molecules that can store carbon rich compounds.
